2017
Founder Dr. Cecilia Varendh Mansson Ph.D research was inspired by the untapped potential, resilience, and positivity of African talent. The TUA vision was formed with the understanding that given the right opportunities, African talent could reshape the global tech landscape.
2020
TUA was formally incorporated to identify, train, certify, and connect Africa’s top tech talent with global opportunities that can improve their quality of life.
2023
Realizing the immense skills gap, our training program was launched to build a robust, market-ready pipeline of skilled tech talent.
2024
To promote more inclusion, we grew our training program portfolio and added an entry level virtual foundational course with no prerequisites. Additionally, the first training cohort in Kenya held, growing our impact across the continent.
2025 & Beyond
We deepened our collaborations by engaging with national goverment in Nigeria and Botswana and global partners like Deloitte’s WorldClass to advance shared goals. We are also evolving into a managed service practice to provide more opportunities to the talent we have trained as well as benefit the global market.
Summary
TalentUp Africa began in 2020 with a simple but ambitious mission: to equip African youth with the cloud computing skills needed to compete in the global digital economy. What started as AWS training programs in Lagos has evolved into West Africa's pioneering Managed Service Provider.

Dr Cecilia Varendh Mansson
Founder, CEO & Member of the Board
Dr. Cecilia Varendh Mansson is the CEO of TalentUp Africa and a Fellow at the Wharton School. With a Ph.D. from Oxford, Wharton, and Harvard, she serves as an expert in fintech and strategy. She has led TalentUp through multiple financing rounds and secured partnerships with AWS and Deloitte. A member of the WEF Council on Responsible Systems and Trustee at Wigwe University, her background includes leadership roles at H&M and Morgan Stanley.

Omolara Adewumi
Managing Director, West Africa
Omolara Adewumi is the Managing Director for TalentUp Africa in Nigeria. With over 15 years of experience across legal, commercial, and development sectors, she focuses on digital transformation and youth employment. Previously, she held key government roles in Ogun and Lagos States. Omolara is a purpose-driven leader dedicated to designing scalable, inclusive solutions that connect young people to international opportunities and drive lasting impact across Africa.

Chief Financial Officer
Adedapo Omoni is a finance executive with over 30 years of experience. He has held C-suite roles at major organizations like British American Tobacco, Interswitch, and Wigwe University. Adedapo specializes in go-to-market strategy, private equity, and corporate governance. Known for his results-driven leadership, he strengthens financial performance and operational excellence across diverse environments, bringing deep expertise in deal structuring and internal controls.

Vivian leads strategic workforce development and large-scale training across the African tech ecosystem.Utilizing her background in business strategy and data analysis, she drives results in process optimization and program delivery. Her success includes managing multi-country projects, partnering with organizations like Deloitte and AWS, and running employability programs that have launched thousands of African professionals into global tech careers.

Ibrahim is a technology leader and software engineer specializing in AI, web technologies, and scalable systems.
